I’m a banana. Korean Canadian. Kinda crass, I guess – but yellow on the outside, white on the inside. And that’s pretty much how I feel. I’ve lived in Canada for 95% of my life and culturally I’m Canadian. I like my double doubles from Timmy’s!

Somehow, I’ve ended up back in the motherland, no doubt chasing some piece of the puzzle that is my identity…the one my dad insists is hiding deep in there somewhere. So far though, Korea hasn’t been much like he described, just ask the gay Korean boys partying it up in the Itaewon clubs on the weekends. Guess that’s what happens when you leave in 1975. You get stuck in nostalgic longing for the Korea of 1975.

Tribal identity? Nature versus nurture?

We’ll see…
